Sad Days For Malta
Azure Window Has Collapsed
Popular natural tourist attraction in Malta, known as Azure window has collapsed during a storm, which covered the island of Gozo. This famous tourist location was also a popular filming location for many famous films and series, including the first episode of Game of Thrones. Maltese Prime Minister said that this is a heart breaking tragedy.
The Maltese grieve. Strong storm has destroyed their natural tourist attraction the Azure window, which was a popular tourist destination for thousands of tourists every year.
Azure window was basically a natural arch or natural bridge, which was formed by sea and wind erosion. According to reports from the BBC, the Maltese authorities presented the study in 2013, that the erosion is irreversible, but that there is no imminent threat that the window could collapse. But they were clearly wrong.
Recently the local authorities on the island of Gozo noticed changes to the Azure Window, therefore they banned access to the natural bridge, as it was no longer safe. However, many tourists wishing to make a “perfect picture” still climbed the bridge, which could end tragically.
